Here at Feet First our recitals tend to look a little bit different then other studios. We enjoy creating a dance show that the whole family can enjoy. Every other year we choose a story for all of our dance classes to follow. This tends to fall on the even years. This means that each of our dance classes would have a specific part in the story line, we cast dancers who come and audition for special parts, and we have VoiceOver narration that weaves through the dances to help us tell the story. It is a wonderful experience for our dancers. Our faculty always does an incredible job bringing these stories to life through dance with their versatile creativity. On the odd years, our studio chooses a theme for our classes to follow. This helps creates another cohesive show that the audience can follow and enjoy.

A little more information for all of our new parents and families:
Tech week is the week leading up to our performance. Monday May 12th- Saturday May 17th. No regular classes will be held this week. We will have pictures taken at the studio with scheduled times for classes to arrive for photos on Monday and Tuesday for students to come get their photos taken as a class. Special family photos are only done by request. All individual photos and class photos must be ordered IN ADVANCE. Dancers are required to attend the class photo even if they are not planning to purchase them. Please click the photography tab for more information.
Our tech week schedule is scheduled times for the dance classes to meet at the theater and practice on stage with costumes. Please check the tech week schedule to know when your dancer is needed on stage. Arrival time is 10 minutes BEFORE your scheduled time, costume on and dancer ready to go, to make sure all dancers are ready to walk onto stage when it is their time. This is a mandatory rehearsal for all dancers. We understand some of these times may conflict with your normal weeknight routines. We ask that you be flexible, as we do our best to make sure your dancers feel performance ready. We appreciate all you parents do to make this week happen!
Dress rehearsal will be held on Friday May 16th. This will be our first full run through of the show. This rehearsal is mandatory for all dancers. Arrival time is 4:30, and we will start with announcements, at 4:50. We will begin at 5:00. You can drop off your dancers and return to pick them up between 8:30/9:00pm. Please pack your dancer a dinner on this night. Younger dancers will be permitted to leave once their dance is finished if they wish. However, this is the only time your dancer has to see the full show. Dancers will remain backstage during both performances on Saturday and will not be allowed to sit in the theater to watch as we do not have enough seats to allow that to happen.
We are looking for parent volunteers for back stage parents, and helping sell or bring in things for our concessions stand. Please click the tabs to read more information about these topics. All backstage parents will need PA clearances and will receive one comped ticket for the opposing show they are not helping with. A sign-up genius will be sent out in April for backstage parents, and concessions.
All information on tickets, how to order a flash drive of the performance, and recital t-shirts are listed below. Recital t-shirts are PREORDER ONLY! All orders are due by April 12th!
We are planning on hosting a dinner in between shows for our dancers. If you would like this option for your dancer, you MUST fill out the form and pay in advance. It is a wonderful time to connect in between shows as we all sit down and eat together. Please make sure to do this in advance so we can order enough food. The signup for this will be available as we get closer. If we do not have enough signed up we will not be able to do this.
As always, any questions please reach out to me directly; Kelsey@feetfirstdance.com
Thank you for being a part of our Feet First Community! We can not WAIT for you to experience our interpretations of movies through dance as they unfold on stage. It is going to be a wonderful show and we are so happy you are a part of it!

Instructions for the Theater and Lobby area:
1. Eating and drinking is not allowed in the theater. All eating is confined to the lobby area.
2. Eating should never be done in costume; large shirts or T-shirts (Recital T-shirts are perfect for this!),
must be completely covering the costume for a dancer to eat while wearing one. The best plan is to eat in
rehearsal clothing.
3. Report areas: During tech week, dancers should report to the Spring-Ford 9th grade center’s Theater for all rehearsals. We will be using the cafeteria as our changing space and hangout area for all our dancers. During the performances,
dancers should report to the cafeteria an hour before the beginning of the show. Please note that the Theater will be closed for seating until 30 minutes before curtain. There is no reserved seating. The box office will open an hour before the show. See the enclosed information regarding ticket prices and pre-sale. Tickets will be sold at pre-sale prices during tech week and throughout the dress rehearsal evening. Tickets will be at full price at the door.
